Murat Turan
I help organizations turn raw data into actionable insights. With my experience in data analytics and business intelligence, I bridge the gap between complex data structures and clear, actionable business strategies.
Who I Am
I am originally from Eskişehir, where I completed my education up to university. I earned my undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul University and my graduate degree in Management Information Systems from Boğaziçi University.
I am married and have the privilege of learning from two wonderful children named Dide and Mahir.
Since I stepped into professional life, I have seen that data is not just tables and graphs. When processed correctly, it becomes the compass for decisions that will shape a company's future.
What I Do
Automation & Decision Support
For over 20 years, I have been designing automation-based systems in areas such as data analytics and science, decision support systems, business intelligence, and data visualization in organizations from different sectors.
I have also been leading my teams in this field for over 10 years.
I also had the opportunity to adapt the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) methodology, which is primarily used in the manufacturing sector, to the service sector. I redesigned all its stages, implemented it, and ensured it has been used for many years. Thus, I contributed to bringing the company's demand forecasting, production/service planning, and financial goals together around the same table and positioning all teams around a single overall strategy.
Tools & Business Impact
During this time, I have developed work using tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, Knime, Excel, VBA, Google Workspace, and similar. Leveraging these tools effectively, I help organizations see the big picture and translate data into meaningful, actionable insights that strengthen decision-making.
I have two books published by Pusula Publishing. In my book "Let Excel Handle It: Problem Solving, Advanced Excel and Macros in Business Life," I wanted to show how issues frequently encountered in professional life can be easily solved with the help of Excel and Macros. In my book "Let Excel Handle It: First Step 105 Basic Techniques in 105 Pages," I tried to explain the basic features for those who are just starting to use Excel, through examples prepared in a one-page concept.
Through the more than 100 Excel trainings I have given, I help thousands of employees improve their Excel skills to advanced levels.
In short, I love making data understandable, accessible, and valuable for everyone.
And this platform is my notebook where I share the knowledge, ideas, and content I have accumulated over the years regarding the business world, management, data analysis and visualization, and sometimes personal topics that I don't want to keep to myself.
